Little birds are fast, really fast. At 1/160th of a second this one was fuzzier than just his feathers would belie.

Pine-cones... Pine-cones... Pine-cones! Okay well maybe these standing dead aren't like the zombies of Return of the Living Dead. But one of them clearly harbored some yummy bugs per the woodpeckers who've torn it up.

Woodpecker holes, four-ways.

Pictures around our "Greenhouse". The yukka yucca and the impenetrable forests of Colorado. (Erm, maybe pretty passable - but bushes, tress and standing dead, oh my!).

Looking west to Round Mountain and Gray Mountain and a bit to the East for the Dakota Hogback; looks like Blue Mountain largely escaped notice however.

These elk decided I wasn't a threat but would be happy to model for me. Only should have brought the longer zoom-lens for better portraiture. The stump pile wasn't as shy but the turkeys were!

The forest tractor was an easy model and fun to play with for flash photography. The star however was this very still pine-tree in our irrigated meadow who was willing to post for 20" seconds at a time unmoving.
