The Aurora Community College Campus was originally part of the Lowry Airforce Base. Today one can still see its origins in airperson training with seeming motorpool buildings, barracks or hospital buildings and last administration additions repurposed. Also interesting is the sea of parking and reclaimed grassland complete with street signs all in otherwise now built up Aurora.

Lowry Building 901 in the background houses the Aurora Language Center, the arts department, career counseling and workforce development. It was once known as South Hall for Academics.

Lowry Building 880 is now an intergenerational care center while it was designed to only stand 5-7 years now more than 70 years ago..

The buildings reflect the educational nature of the AirForce base as it was the original location of the AirForce Academy; yet their age shows large even as they perform modern educational tasks.

Lowry Building 840 houses diesel education. It was built in the 1940 and its days as a small, overstuffed educational building are limited with a request to replace it in place..

Some repurposes look very out-of-place; such as what seems to have once been a motorpool now with oddly small shutter doors? And modern glass in a world of '70s and before era buildings seems misplaced at best among the brutalist brickwork of Building 859.

Lowry Building 849 houses Community College of Denver's Health Education while building 758 houses Colorado Community College System's IT group and University of Northern Colorado's Denver presence..

Lowry Building 859 is the Center for Simulation which houses EMS, police and fire education..

The derelict, still standing for demolition buildings leave an eerie presence

Lowry Building 869 awaits demolition per a 2016 report.

Lowry Building 700 is a massive, block square dorm with courtyards and multiple stories. It looms with merely subtle fencing blocking its parking and preventing future enjoyment of its courtyards in its home at a commuter school. Its windows project its abandonment. It too awaits demolition per a 2016 report.

Lowry Building 903 has a purpose being the West Quad building housing enrollment services, business, science and computer information systems; it lives as 710 Alton Way. It was known as Polifka Hall for Academics and having unknown soil issues that are called out as no further action in Lowry base closure documentation it seems.

Security is quite present even in this time of COVID without obvious on-campus life. Still it is a far-cry different than those patrolling it when it was a military base.
