Georgetown & Silver Plume Railroad

As the train no longer goes all the way to "downtown" Georgetown (as it did in 1906), the station leaving Georgetown. In an undated picture from around 1900 one can see the two tracks by the river where the station is now and the track used to carry on to the Town.

The High Bridge (as can be seen looking towards Georgetown); a nice photo essay a fellow named Samuel E. Howard did of the bridge.

Overlooking Georgetown and the station again.

Silverplume

You'll notice a granite oblisk in the upper lefthand of this photo. Looking up the story it sounds to be Clifford Griffin's grave[1][2].

Engine Collection

This engine bears a plate from the Baldwin Locomotive Works Philidelphia, PA September 1920 - or 103 years ago.

Back to Georgetown

Along the ride are numerous, humerous exhibits like this one which was just after the station for the Lebanon Silver Mine tour.

The High Bridge coming from Silver Plume. The bridge was rebuilt in 1978 as the original was removed when the railroad track was pulled up in 1938 but the original can be seen looking towards Georgetown in this 1906 photo and looking back towards Silver Plume in again in 1906.

These dramatic powerlines appear to be for the Cabin Creek Hydro plant off Guanella Pass
