Reading a cool artist's statement she pointed out alpenglow - "the entrancing phenomenon of the tops of peaks glowing red and yellow during sunrise or sunset" as she put it. It occurred to me I had noticed similar on the downtown buildings at sunset so tried to capture some Downto'nglow and otherwise capture some miscellaneous shots from around the house.
Republic Plaza rises 714'/56stories and is easily Denver's skyline's most boring building and, yet, our closest to a "14er" (as supertall skyscrapers start at 300meters or 984feet (and megatall's are classified as more than twice that).
More visually interesting in this photo is the reflecting glass of Block 162 to the right of Republic Plaza's boxy form. Block 162, is a 452'/30story building. Adding some interest is ancient, little (384'/31story) 1600 Glenarm Place aka the Security Life Building with its architectural lighting installed since becoming residential; even before becoming residential its rooftop resturant was shuttered (Top of the Rockies) and now the exterior glass elevator to get there is gone too.
At the third tallest building downtown The Wells Fargo Center is certainly a 13er but so visible in Denver's skyline
As the tallest office building to be built for 30 years in Denver, the Hines building has some architectural details as it intercepts my view of the Flatirons. It's a solid 13er.
Though a very boring black box; it's a solid 13er reflecting some light off its marquee sign.
A through the building look at the flares and sights of Commerce City from my perch. It's still a relatively low office building and oddly the biggest office building in 40 years -- now! It was built speculatively, as the office realestate market drops to liability levels planet-wide.
Granite Tower the equivalent of a 12k' mountain. It's not particularly tall but still quite high. It meets the definition of a skyscraper (330') from real estate firm CoStar via their retired Emporis platform.
A littler office building from '75 makes it a 12k' equivalent here still catching a few rays passing over Independence Plaza next door
