This Month started off with an inversion making fireworks appear to be a civil war reenactment with smoke hugging the ground around a charismatic tree that anchored the ground show for Highlands Ranch.
The last is as close to fire and brimstone in a photo I've ever captured -- thankfully.

Next came the concern of lightning from above starting trees on fire below, causing the Drummer's Flat Fire. Here we see the Colorado Division of Fire Protection and Control helicopter leaving after a survey.

The fire was thankfully quite small and did not spread much

Regardless of what we might think are disasters, life continues all around. This fellow looked for his next meal - and was careful not to risk become one for someone else.

While on my "point" getting shots of the forest fire, I may as well take advantage of the very orange sunset to capture the tree (and scrub) covered hills.

Now while among the recovery from the 37E fire, let's see what affects are still around: thistle, more weeds and fallen, dead trees.

Life can be prickly but it is best to find the beauty in it - always there.
